Puzzle 129 (Symmetry Heyawake)

This is a Symmetry Heyawake puzzle.

Rules (from Grant Fikes's blog): In this Room and Reason [Heyawake] puzzle, a room with an S in it must have 180-degree rotational symmetry, and a room with an A in it must NOT have 180-degree rotational symmetry. The rules are otherwise unchanged.

Puzzle 114 (Panoramic Skyscrapers)

This is a Panoramic Skyscrapers puzzle. Standard Skyscrapers rules, except that clues are given between two rows or columns. These clues give the sum of the Skyscrapers clues of the two rows/columns they border.

I first saw this variation on the 2016 USPC written by Michael Rios; I'm unsure if it has been done elsewhere.

This is an All Threes Slitherlink puzzle. Rules (from Palmer Mebane's blog)This is a Slitherlink puzzle, with a twist. Every 3 in the puzzle is given to you. That is, if the solution has three segments around a single grid square, there is a 3 in that square.

Puzzle Ramayan + Puzzle 107 (Bosnian Snake)

This is a practice puzzle for Bosnian Snake.

Rules (from IB): Locate a snake (a 1 cell-wide single continuous path) in the grid whose head and tail are given. The snake does not touch itself, even diagonally. Numbers outside the grid indicate the number of snake cells in that row/column. Numbers inside the grid indicate how many of the 8 cells around it are used by the snake. (The O's mark the head and tail of the snake in this puzzle formatting; in the IB, they are marked by black circles.)

This is a Tapa [Difference] puzzle for TVC XX practice. (from IB:) Follow regular Tapa rules. Additionally, replace each clue with two nonzero digits which difference is equal to the clue.

Puzzle 98 (Outside Kropki)

This is an Outside Kropki puzzle. This was US Team practice for the 2016 WPC.

From WPC Instruction Booklet: Fill in the whole grid with digits 1 to N (where N is the size of the grid) so that each row and column contains each digit exactly once. If there is a white dot between a pair of orthogonally adjacent cells, then the cells must contain numbers whose difference is exactly one. If there is a black dot between a pair of orthogonally adjacent cells, then the cells must contain numbers whose quotient is exactly two. There can be either a black dot or a white dot between 1 and 2. All dots from each row and column have been removed from the grid. They must appear in the corresponding row or column in the given order. There may be some gaps between the circles. All possible dots have been given.

Puzzle 90 (Irregular Fillomino)

This is an Irregular Fillomino puzzle (a type at WPC 2016).

Rules (from WPC 2016 Instruction Booklet):

Divide the grid along the given lines into regions so that no two regions with the same area share an edge. Each given number must represent the area of the region it belongs to - counted in number of cells of that region, regardless of the sizes of those cells. A region may contain none, one, or more of the given numbers.

This is a Nurikabe variation inspired by Palmer Mebane's Line Nurikabe.

Rules: Standard Nurikabe rules, except that there may not be four consecutive white cells in a row or column. (Equivalently, you can not overlay an I tetromino on any island cells.)

Puzzle 54 (Star Fillomino)

This is a Star Fillomino puzzle.

Rules: Place two stars in every row and column so that no two stars are in cells that share a corner or an edge (Star Battle rules excluding two stars per region rule). Use standard Fillomino rules for all of the remaining cells.

Puzzle 21 (Snake Fillomino)

This is a Snake Fillomino puzzle.

Rules: A snake with a head and tail and unknown length must be drawn in the
grid so that it contains all shaded cells. The snake does not touch itself, even at
a point. The remaining spaces must be divided into polyominoes satisfying the
usual Fillomino rules. The snake may touch polyominoes of the same size as

Puzzle 20 (Four-Color Fillomino)

This is a four-color Fillomino puzzle.

RulesAlso, it must be possible to shade all polyominoes using four colors so that no bordering polyominoes are the same color (in other words, the grid must allow a four-color shading). (rules based on Grandmaster Puzzles Checkered Fillomino rules)
